This year, the ballpark featured a new craft beer stand that has finally gone beyond just Atwater, which has been featured the last few seasons. This year, they carry a lot of the Michigan brands like Bell's, Founders, and Arcadia. And to our shock, we noticed that they had a sign that said they were going to sell Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) bottles. It's not often you find kegs of this (although we just sampled some at the Hockeytown BREWHAHA. Unfortunately, they weren't tapping until a little later, and we never went back for it. Here's a great article about the new "pub".
Our seats were in the left field upper decks right in the sunshine. I like this view a lot because often there aren't people walking up and down the aisle blocking the view. The Tigers got going in hurry in the second inning with Peralta's two-run homer. Despite some good pitching by Porcello, he gave up 3 in the third. The Tigers came back though in the next inning to take back the lead. They finished off with a 7-4 win, but Valverde came in to make it exciting.
Post-game, we drove by a pub that we have seen on our way to Mexicantown before called Donovan's Pub. Of course, we only stopped in so we can take pictures for the Donovan family. It was interesting combination of Irish, Mexican, and just plain old Detroit. But there were some friendly locals in there that made us think this wasn't as odd as it looked!
Unfortunately, we couldn't stick around to see what night life brought in as we had a dinner date with Julie at Tallulah's in Birmingham. We keep trying this place for its wine; however, we're always disappointed by the food portions and selections. Post-dinner, we did get to finally check out the new steakhouse in town, Hyde Park. It was actually a really spot for a cocktail as they had some cozy, semi-private tables for cocktails and appetizers. This is perfect for the Birminghamites that like to make dinner an 8-hour affair.
