Meramec Greenway and Castlewood State Park in STL

Flying directly from Savannah, I landed in St. Louis to visit the family for a week of fun.  Luckily, I arrived just in time to take part in Sam and Noah's last day of school.  Tara and I picked up the boys for some ice cream at Fritz's on a cold afternoon.  But that didn't stop Sam from devouring most of his banana split!
After a little reheating in the car, we headed over to the Meramec Greenway to explore near the river.  We were able to get some fun photos near the river before heading home.
Later that evening, Winnie and I explored a newer restaurant in the Chesterfield area called Edge Wild that was a brewery/winery, but with actually very tasty salads and entrees.  They did a nice job with the restaurant interior.

Over the weekend, the whole gang met back up to do some more hiking along the Meramec at Castlewood State Park.  After reviewing the trail map, we decided on the 3 mile River Scene Trail.  Little did we know it was a rocky climb uphill for the first mile!  But worth it once we started to walk along the river.
This is surely Pure Missouri right here.  Bluffs, green, and brown river!
As we made our way to a little over half the trail about to descend towards the river, the clouds started to come in as a thunderstorm was on its way.
Unfortunately, we didn't spend too much time down by the river as we followed the trail back around to the cars just in time to beat out a heavy downfall!  As always, another fun trip back home with some new adventures to add to the blog!
