Since moving to Birmingham back in 2007, every Fall, we've taken to a trip out to one of the over 50 orchards in the state of Michigan to go apple picking...and cider drinking...and of course, donut eating. Here are the places we've hit up so far:
This year, we took a trip to one of the more famous orchards in Metro Detroit,
Blake Farms, in Armada. According to their

Our historic farm started in 1946 by Gerald and Elisabeth Blake and their thirteen children, it was one of the very first "Pick Your Own" orchards in Michigan. Navigating through all the property, we eventually made our way to the U-Pick-It apple orchards where we started our picking with gala apples. Since it didn't take us long to get our 1/2 bushel bag full, we decided to move onto pick a few raspberries.
Similar to our
experience in Ludington picking blueberries, this was no easy chore. These raspberries were quite delicate, so we couldn't just grab them like apples. After picking a quart, we called it a day, but not before we picked up some a quart of cider and some cinnamon-sugar donuts. Yum! More to see in my
