Northwestern University

We didn't waste too much time in Birmingham this month as we headed back out on the road this weekend to Chicago for Scottie's fantasy football draft.  It was a good excuse for me as well to catch up Jess and Sharon to see their little boys.  It wouldn't be a trip to Chicago without a visit to our favorite sushi joint, Tsuki.  While it was just Scottie and I until Ray joined us, we ordered up our typical Tsukitini, which is Tsuki's Signature Sake and Absolut Citron.  From the signature sushi menu, we went all in with our favorites:
  • Edamame
  • Beni Tori: Torched fatty salmon nigri
  • Chef Hemmi’s Spicy Tuna Sushi: Spicy tuna maki crowned 4 different toppings
  • Spicy Pinenut Tuna: Spicy tuna maki with pinenuts, pistachios & rosemary, topped with white tuna and ginger paste
  • Tropical Mango: Salmon, tuna & mango maki, topped with avocado, and finished with raspberry sauce
  • Crazy Tuna - Tuna , albacore , and  super white, topped with red tobiko & mayo
It did not take us too long to devour all of those pieces, and we made our way over to Cullen's to meet up with David and Pat Hoyt.  Our night continued at Nick's Uptown followed by a burrito at Los Caminos De Michoacan.  Who knew we could eat that much in one night, but I suppose we worked up the appetite with the 4.5 hour drive and the excitement of seeing some of our old Chicago buddies.
The next afternoon after visiting with Jess and Sharon, I spent day retracing my footsteps from a few years back at Northwestern University on the Evanston campus.  It was a beautiful day and I wanted to get some updated, electronic photos of the campus.  These are just some of the reasons I ended up selecting Northwestern back in 1998 for my undergraduate education.

On my way into the city from the west side, I noticed this sign from the Pure Michigan advertising campaign.

More pictures in my photo album.
