NCAA 3rd Round at The Palace of Auburn Hills

After an eventful Thursday at the 2nd Round and a long day of basketball and beer for Scottie's birthday, we returned to The Palace for the 3rd Round games of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament for an all Michigan showing as both Michigan and Michigan St. made into the round.
First game of the day was VCU vs. Michigan.  Both teams pretty much crushed their opponents on Thursday; however, today, it was all Michigan.  VCU must have used up all their scoring power on Thursday because today, they couldn't buy a basket or a rebound.  Even with their creative press that typically throws off teams and shows off their athleticism, VCU couldn't seem to get anything going in their favor, and Michigan outmuscled them in every aspect of the game.  McGary seemed to be making his coming out show scoring 21 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.  He was a beast!
Between games, they honored Canadian David Barrett, the writer of "One Shining Moment"!

For the second gameMichigan St. and Memphis kept it a little closer; however, there's no doubting Tom Izzo as the Spartans landed their fifth regional semifinals and the 11th time in Izzo's career.  Memphis tried everything in their books to beat the Spartans, but they just couldn't get the ball to drop losing 48-70.
Post-games, we headed to One-Eyed Betty's, our other favorite beer bar in Metro Detroit, to catch the remaining games and some much needed water and food.  We're on a brussel sprouts kick now that I discovered that I actually like them, so we started off with those and some of their Carnival Pretzels!
